Fertigation |
|
Fertilizer runoff is responsible for many environmental issues including increased growth of aquatic weeds and algae blooms in lakes and estuaries. The direct result is reduced oxygen content in the water, detrimental if not lethal to fish and other aquatic life. Local municipalities have taken notice and are taking action. Fertilizer use is receiving increased scrutiny and local regulation.
“Fertigation”, the process of adding liquid fertilizer to irrigation water, is an efficient method of delivering fertilizer. Fertigation eliminates the problem of fertilizer runoff, as the fertilizer is absorbed directly into the soil, and is immediately available to roots of the turf or plants. |
|
A successful fertigation program has numerous advantages, including:
- Improved turf and plant quality and color
- Elimination of turf "burn"
- Less fertilizer waste
- Less pesticide and herbicide use due to stronger root systems
- Less time and labor for maintenance
- Decreased additional salts deposits - an ongoing problem with most synthetic fertilizers

| Properly injected, liquid fertilizers have even been shown to reduce the amount of water required to keep turf and plants green and healthy! |

Highly accurate and able to handle a wide range of water flows and injection volumes, Chemilizer injectors are preferred by many industry professionals:
|
|
The injection control panel for the CP33 was specifically designed to inject by volume through an irrigation system. It allows an operator to know how much is being injected at all times. When injecting fungicides or pesticides the precision this injector provides at small volumes is amazing. Effective results, minimal waste.

"...[GOLD'n GRO] is pleased to now offer an excellent line of liquid fertilizer injectors for the Landscape Construction and Maintenance markets and also for the Nursery and Greenhouse markets. The injector units are environmentally friendly and energy efficient because they are powered by the natural flow of the irrigation water. They are reliable, efficient, extremely accurate and easy to install and use."

Irrigation System Conditioning
Irrigation water can leave organic solids such as algae, bacteria and slime as well as minerals such as iron, sulfur and calcium in irrigation lines. This clogs pipes, valves, nozzles and drip emitters, and ultimately reduces the effectiveness of the irrigation system. Compounding today’s irrigation problems is the migration to the use of “gray water”, recycled water from municipal waste water treatment plants, for use in irrigation applications. This is water that has been treated to meet EPA regulations for release into the environment, but may contain residual organic and inorganic matter.
Chemilizer injectors are uniquely suited for adding chlorine or other treatment agents for irrigation system maintenance. |
