Welcome 2008 International AID + Trade Attendees!
The term "water treatment" can be applied to any process that alters or changes the condition of water. It includes both cleaning and disinfecting potable water for human and livestock consumption and waste treatment for environmental protection.
The World Health Organization estimates that approximately 1.5 million people die each year due to diseases caused by unsafe water, mostly children under 5 years of age. It is described as a global health crisis. This is particularly unfortunate given that there are simple, cost-effective methods for treating water.
Chemilizer injectors are used world-wide for the treatment of water. The injectors do not use electricity; they run off of the water flow which makes them ideal for locations with rural water systems and an unreliable electrical supply.
Chemilizer injectors work with virtually any water-flow range, and can handle a spectrum of disinfecting or other water-treatment agents. Using cost-effective, easily obtained chemicals such as chlorine, the injectors can sanitize from 1 gallon-per-hour to 2,000 gallons-per-minute. The injectors can utilize gravity via a water drop of as little as 1.5 meters to treat low water flows.
The efficient diaphragm design provides accurate dosing. Use of the adjustable CP33 model allows for extremely small doses.
Basic maintenance is easily done without tools and without specialized training, which makes them ideal for many remote locations. The injectors are small, lightweight, and are easily installed.
Chemilizer injectors are NSF/ANSI 61 certified for materials safety in water treatment.

Chemilizer Injectors Aid Hurricane Relief Efforts
Largo, Florida, October 12, 2005 - Chemilizer's HN55 injector is playing an important role in helping generate drinkable water for those in rural areas of Louisiana and Mississippi who have been disconnected from normal community sources by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
According to Dick Jarvis, a volunteer from The Florida Baptist Conference organization, while urban water sources are returning to normal from the devastation of the two hurricanes, those living in many remote areas are receiving purified water by means of a unique, portable water purifying system. "If we can't connect these people to drinkable water systems, we bring the system to them," Jarvis said.
Each of the portable units consists of micron filtration, media filtration, ultraviolet purification and chlorine purification. The last step is to inject with chlorine to provide a 1.5 to 2.0 parts per million chlorine content. . One portable unit was used after Hurricane Charlie in Punta Gorda, Fl. and Jarvis has built six more of these portable units in his garage in Orlando, FL. More units are being assembled in other states utilizing Chemilizer injectors.
Chlorine injection is provided by a Chemilizer HN55 with a 1:100 or 1:128 injection ratio. Chlorine is injected to maintain the integrity of the purified water for later use.
Jarvis reported that a Chemilizer unit can be installed with any pipe sizing and without limit to the amount of water flow, which bodes well in emergency situation. Because the motor acts as both the source of control and power, additional meters and pulsars are not required.
Jarvis said that the HN55's fluid powered motor doesn't require electricity and is completely self-contained requiring no flow switches. Because it is entirely automatic, there is no need to turn the injector on or off.
"In these kinds of disaster situations, we need simple and effective ways of dealing with water purification. And Chemilizer does exactly that," he said. Future plans include deployment in Indonesia and other areas with a demonstrated need.
The Florida Baptist Conference has a comprehensive disaster relief organization which cooperates with the State Emergency Operation Center, the American Red Cross and the Southern Baptist Convention's relief operation. They train teams who enter disaster areas and furnish potable water.
Chemilizer Products, Inc. has produced quality injectors for over three decades for global users in water treatment, agriculture, animal health and other applications. Research, manufacturing and administrative activities are conducted in the company's modern 20,000 sq. ft. facility located in Largo, FL.
